The conference “Nuclear decommissioning: strategies, practices and challenges” is taking place in Moscow

The conference “Nuclear decommissioning: strategies, practices and challenges” will be held for the first time from 9 to 11 of November 2015 in Moscow in the World trade center (Moscow), simultaneously with VIII International exhibition “AtomEco-2015”. The conference will be organized by Nuclear Energy Agency of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD NEA) and supported by the State Corporation Rosatom.

 

The conference will be held in the form of open sessions on the following topics: “State, industrial and business strategies of NPP decommissioning”, “Practical experience in the field of nuclear facility decommissioning”, “Cooperation and different roles of concerned parties in decommissioning process”. Participants of the sessions will have an opportunity to discuss in details basic principles of decommissioning strategy development in the Russian nuclear industry and best practices of leading foreign companies in the field of handling of radioactive waste (RAW) and spent nuclear fuel (SNF). Also the participants will consider degree of involvement of regulatory authorities, shareholders, personnel and other concerned parties in implementation of nuclear and radiation-hazardous facilities (NRHF) decommissioning projects.

 

Representatives of companies conducting activities in the field of decommissioning of nuclear facilities included in the management contour of the State Corporation Rosatom, OECD NEA experts, and representatives of foreign companies JAPCO (Japan), ENSI (Switzerland), JAVYS (Slovakia), EDF (France), NUKEM Technologies (Germany), NDA (United Kingdom), SOGIN (Italy), Belgoprocess (Belgium), M+W UK (United Kingdom), Östhammar municipality (Sweden), SSM (Sweden) and other are invited to take part in the conference.

 

A technical tour to Obninskaya NPP will be held on the last day of the conference.
